deep sea diving

deep sea diving
I’ve been under a long time
Maybe too long
The sight of the surface makes me panic
but I think it’s time.
A feeling hangs in my gut
Makes my ascent that much harder
I can hear it;
Blood pumping around my body
Thumping in my mask
I go faster, quicker
Could get the bends
I start to claw upwards
Dragging the water down
It’s getting bright
My eyes hurt
I close them and finally break through
Open
I take out the mouthpiece
Take my first breath.
