After the Gold Rush

After the Gold Rush

Dirty, calloused hands

dry, cracked skin

Aching muscles and burning limbs

Sun-baked dreams left in the dirt

and carried on the tools

A dusty tent and worn blanket

A long, long walk

on bleeding and blistered feet

back home.
