Black

Black
The fires rose
Spewing up
Out into the black

The burning fallout
creating swarms
in the screaming wind

Starving birds
lingered on the
dead limbs of trees
amongst the remains

Trapped on both sides
by thin, long figures
cloaked and skeletal
There was only one way
and whatever it was
it glowed and radiated
with flashes of red

Carrying only a gentle flame
past emaciated cadavers
of varying size
huddled and clutching eachother
He went on

And when he finally saw it
he trembled
As urine soaked through his rags
and onto the dusty floor

And then it engulfed him.
