Lemon

Lemon

(when life gives you lemons)

I’m still vibrant

though my shape has sagged

Spots have begun appearing

and I get picked up less and less

I’ve seen many pass by

and hope that one day it’ll be me

That they’ll take me in their hands

Let me in to their homes

and into their lives

But it’s true

I’m aging

My date is getting closer

and soon I’ll be disposed of

But I was brought into this world

for a purpose

And if they can get past the exterior

My thick skin

They’ll see that inside

I’m as good as i’ve ever been

I have something to give

It might not be for all

Perhaps too sour for some

But for the right person;

The person who wants what I have to give

It’ll flow out of me

And that

That would bring me immense joy.
